Windows 7 bit, Office Pro. The office installation always worked on similar machines. All of a sudden setup. Not sure if related as other installers for Adobe software and other software worked fine. I’ve had similar issues with Quickbooks and turned out it was the. NET framework. I would update that and see if that’s the problem for you too.

Running updates as we speak but they take awhile so I’m splitting for the day so will know tomorrow. Any other suggestions strongly welcome. Ran all theupdates and still the same, but this time it gives me some errors and stuff Thanks MS for your insight on this one LOL. I’m posting it below. I’ll check with expert-exchange folks but if you’ve encountered something similar before, please be my guest and post your thoughts here.

Description: Microsoft Office Professional Plus setup did not complete successfully. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

Work Thanks for the tip on Revo but unfortunately it didn’t find any Office installations. This computer is a fresh install of Windows 7 so I wouldn’t expect to find any Office files anyway, except maybe leftovers from previously crashed installation. It was determined that if the computer is joined to domain, therefore the above GPO applies, that’s when and only when we have problem installing Office.

We had no issues with other software though, like Adobe and Java. We could of course run installation without joining domain, but it’s not the way it was done here. I had the same problem with Windows 8. Once finished installation, I re-enabled CryptoBlocker. Now I know to install Office before joining the domain; but if I forget it’s no big deal to un-link the GPO for 5 minutes.

I’m not that worried about getting infected in a 5 minute time frame. I was scratching my head for about an hour trying to figure out why office wouldn’t install. We just setup those Cryptolocker GPOs last week so it didn’t even cross my mind as the culprit. Apa Computer Service is an IT service provider. I had the same problem with a win8 Pro laptop. I took the laptop off the domain and the installer worked. Awesome, after a very frustrating morning, turning the GPO off worked.

I had to reboot and then run gpupdate. This topic has been locked by an administrator and is no longer open for commenting. To continue this discussion, please ask a new question. Office Setup did not complete successfully Win 7 – Microsoft Community.

I need a function version of Word, the sooner the better. Thank you! Also, I had an outdated trial version of MS on my computer – I could view files but not edit them in anyway- that I tried uninstalling to see if that makes a difference, but it didn’t. It just made it so that I can’t even view the Word files I have. So all Office suites and related Office applications are uninstalled? Windows XP with SP3? Was this reply helpful? Yes No. Sorry this didn’t help.

When I try to install the Solver ad-in:. It MIGHT be possible to help it along – but before starting down this path, wait to see if a Microsoft Engineer comes along with a better suggestion.

XLAM in it or not. If there is not one be sure you can view hidden and system files , and if there is not one there, then create a dummy file you could try using another. DLL to go with it.

But this is a stretch – might not work at all heck, could make things worse – but at least you’ll have your Restore Point to fall back on, and after Restoring you could delete the dummy files and be back in the same stuck-in-the-mud place you’re at right now. Was this reply helpful? Yes No. Sorry this didn’t help. I don’t have any real suggestions for you beyond what I’ve already offered.

I was hoping one of the Microsoft Tech types would look into this. You might consider reposting, with a title to attract their attention, like. And then repeat what you’ve tried to date in it along with the problem description.
